周回 shuukai
Grinding the same stage again.
What does shuukai mean?
Running the same quest over and over for drops or event points. Not exciting, weirdly soothing, and often done half-asleep with one hand.
Example
イベント素材のために、同じ面を周回してる。
I'm grinding the same stage over and over for event materials.
Vibe
Who you can say this to, and how it lands.
Safe to use Fine in ordinary conversation.
The story behind shuukai
周回 is a plain word for going round a track, and mobile gacha games turned it into a lifestyle. Once event points and drop rates were the currency, the same quest had to be run twenty, fifty, two hundred times, and a whole vocabulary grew around it: 周回勢, 周回イベント, the endless question of which stage pays best per stamina.
Developers eventually admitted what they had built. Auto battle and skip tickets exist because everyone knows this part is not really play. And yet players defend it. There is something genuinely restful about a task with no difficulty and a visible bar, performed one-handed, half asleep, on the train home.
