同担拒否 doutan kyohi
Don't like the same one I like.
What does doutan kyohi mean?
Some fans cannot bear to share their favourite, so they quietly decline friendship with anyone who picked the same member. Others advertise the opposite in their profile.
Example
同担拒否ではないので、語り相手が欲しい。
I'm fine with same-faves, so I'd love someone to talk to.
Vibe
Who you can say this to, and how it lands.
Friends only Casual. Natural with friends, out of place at work or with strangers.
Culture note
It is common enough that fan profiles state their stance up front, right next to which member they support.
The story behind doutan kyohi
担当 is the word for the member you have taken on, borrowed from the language of assigned duties, as though supporting someone were a post you hold. 同担 is another person with the same post, and 拒否 is refusal. Put together: I would rather not be friends with someone who has picked the same one as me.
It sounds harsh in translation, but it is really about protecting a private feeling from comparison. The etiquette around it is well developed. People state their position in their profile, 同担拒否 or 同担歓迎, right beside the name, so nobody has to ask and nobody has to be quietly wounded later.
