Passing it on, one tap.
What does riposuto mean?
The share button, renamed. Older users still say retweet and RT out of muscle memory, so you will hear both for the same action, sometimes in the same sentence.

It was good, so I passed it on.
Vibe
Who you can say this to, and how it lands.
Safe to use Fine in ordinary conversation.
The story behind riposuto
For over a decade the action had one name in Japanese: リツイート, usually shortened to RT in writing, with 拡散希望 stuck on posts that begged to travel. Then in 2023 the platform rebranded and the button became repost, so Japanese picked up リポスト and the whole vocabulary had to be renegotiated in public.
The result is a small generational tell. People who joined recently say リポスト without thinking; people who have been online since the early 2010s still let リツイート slip and then correct themselves, or do not bother. Quoting with a comment is 引用リポスト, and it remains the most dangerous button on the internet.
