The story behind kyoukyuu

供給 is an economics word: supply, the other half of demand. Fandom borrowed it and then committed to the metaphor completely, so official output is discussed the way a village discusses the harvest. A new photo set, a surprise announcement, an unexpected video, all of it is 供給.

Hence 供給過多 for a week with three releases in it, and 供給不足 for the long silence after a tour ends. There is a sibling metaphor too, 燃料, fuel, for anything that keeps the fire going. It is only half a joke. Waiting is the main activity of fandom, and the vocabulary was built by people who wait.
