カプ kapu
The pairing you'd defend with your life.
What does kapu mean?
Short for カップリング: two characters you read as a couple. Your favourite is your 推しカプ, and the one you cannot stand is your 地雷 — a landmine, best stepped around quietly.
Example
このカプが一番好き。
This pairing is my absolute favourite.

Safe to use Fine in ordinary conversation.
The story behind kapu
The English word coupling entered Japanese fandom and immediately grew rules the original never had. The most important one is order: the two names are written in a fixed sequence, and swapping them describes a different relationship, not the same one seen from the other side. Fans are entirely serious about this.
Around that convention sits a careful etiquette. Tags exist so nobody stumbles into a pairing that upsets them, a fan whose reading is contradicted has a 解釈違い on their hands, and quietly leaving is considered better manners than arguing. It looks obsessive from outside, and it is, but it is also a functioning system for keeping thousands of people with incompatible feelings in one room.
