The story behind toutoshi
尊い means noble, precious, the word for things that deserve reverence. Fandom picked it up in the 2010s, largely replacing the older 萌え, because 萌え described what the viewer felt while 尊い describes what the thing deserves. The compliment moved outward, away from you and onto them, which turns out to matter.
尊死 is the terminal stage. The vocabulary of expiring on the spot has a long tradition in Japanese reaction language, and this one fuses reverence and death into two characters. The correct usage is to report your own passing, from the afterlife, immediately after seeing a photograph of several people standing next to each other.
