Changing allegiance inside a fandom. Sometimes it's a slow drift, sometimes one performance flips you overnight, and either way you announce it very carefully.

The story behind oshi hen
推す means to recommend, to push someone forward, and idol fandom turned it into a noun for the person you have decided to push. Once fans had 推し they needed a whole grammar around it: 単推し for the devoted, 箱推し for those backing the entire group, and 推し変 for the day your allegiance moves.
A 推し変 gets announced carefully because fans treat it as a small breach of a contract they signed with themselves. There is even a diplomatic alternative — 推し増し, adding a fave rather than replacing one, no resignation letter required. By the 2020s this vocabulary had escaped fandom entirely, and people were talking about their 推し bakery.
