アンチ came from the prefix anti and hardened into a noun on the message boards of the 2000s, where a popular figure would have both a fan thread and a dedicated アンチスレ running side by side. The word for the opposite pole is 信者, believer, and the old net proverb says the two are separated by a sheet of paper.
