The story behind gyun
キュン has been describing the sudden tightening of a heart since at least the 1980s, when 胸キュン became a household phrase. ギュン is that word with two small marks added. Dakuten, the two strokes that turn ka into ga, make a sound heavier and rougher, and Japanese uses them as a kind of volume knob: the same word, but with more force behind it.
So キュン is a flutter and ギュン is a grip. It usually appears alone, as ギュンです, because anything longer would be showing off. A handwritten note, a photo, a small kindness from somebody you did not expect it from, and there it is.
